Gary Fong Puffer Pop Up Flash Diffuser for Nikon Cameras
Many people call it the Gary Fong Puffer. But I simply call it pop up flash diffuser. I bought one last two or three weeks ago at Hidalgo, Quiapo on a store right beside Columbia.
Here is a picture of one mounted on a camera.

they call it spirit flash diffuser (manufacturer’s name)

The one on the photo is actually smaller compared to what I have bought. Mine is a bit taller by maybe quarter of an inch.
What I really like about this diffuser is its usefulness and portability.
usefulness because I don’t have a flash gun yet. But I am planning to buy a Nissin di622 soon. Add the fact that you can compare some shots using a pop up flash diffuser as if taken with flash guns (i.e. SB600, SB800). It is very portable because it can be disassembled into two parts – the diffuser and the attachment to the shoe. (The shoe part is the portion where flash guns are attached)
here is a sample of a photo taken straight and close up using diffused flash
As you can see, the image isn’t burned or highlighted much on the usual areas like the cheek, ear lobes, nose, hair and etc. And another one which you will obviously see is the reduction of shadows. Plus it gives a more natural look while giving the light you need.
I embedded a youtube video for you to watch
