Nissin Di622 Sample Shots Using Optical Trigger Together with Nikon D90 Built-In Flash
I have just bought a Nissin Di622 speedlight / flash gun yesterday but was only able to get a new set (four) of batteries during our lunch break. I was so eager to test them but found nothing to test it on.
Then an idea struck me and I thought why not test the optical trigger capability of the Nissin flash gun?
If you are wondering what an optical trigger is, its something on flash guns that will make the flash gun or speedlight fire / flash when it sense / sees another flash coming from another unit. Well, in most cases, the stock / built-in flash of our Nikon bodies.
Here are some sample shots taken from my room which contains very poor lighting. So what you see below is all thanks to the flash units. Imagine shooting an image with around 10% available light. Well I got some problems with my room lighting – ok!?
As you can see, what happened here is that I sandwiched the subject in between two flash units. The first one on my Nikon D90 body. After the built-in flash fires, the Nissin di622 I placed at the back of the subject senses the flash and then causes it to fire immediately causing a shot the looked like a spotlight from behind the subject. Well, it really depends on the power set on the flash unit.
